Different forms of permanence
Loro Piana's authority begins with fibre: cashmere, vicuña and the disciplined pursuit of handle. Hermès begins with leather, harness-making logic and objects designed around structure. Both can be quiet; neither is quiet in every product.
Ageing depends less on logo visibility than construction, colour, use and the owner's willingness to maintain the object. A pale knit and a structured leather bag do not face the same life.
The investment question
Resale value is not the same as lasting value. Certain Hermès bags have unusually visible secondary markets, while Loro Piana clothing is more often valued through wear, comfort and private longevity.
